WHAT'S IN HER BAG
M.K.'s 10 essentials

1.
Filofax I
have lived in New York, San Francisco,
Paris and now New York again. It keeps
me sane while I use it as a journal and
calendar. It tends to look like a collage
most of the time because I collect so much
stuff. Business cards of shops & restaurants
I enjoy and people I've met and a street
map of NYC. 2. My Orla Kiely wallet is
my favorite of all times. It's light blue
inside and has tons of pockets. I never
thought I would like a zippered wallet
but it allows me to stuff it to the gills
with receipts. The pattern makes me smile
and I can find it easily in my bag. I've
recommended this wallet to several of my
customers looking for this type of wallet. 3.
The kimono pouch A
Christmas gift from my friend Fumiko. I've
always used it as a make-up/mini medicine
cabinet i.e. kleenex, cough drops, band
aids etc...
4. Ipod Tunes
out city noise and cell phones. One of
my favorite mixes combines Sting, Nina
Simone, Bobby Short and movie soundtracks
such as "Something's Gotta Give". 5.
Stationery from Cursive & stamps which
I keep in another pouch bought recently
in Egypt. This idea was given to me by
a Cursive customer who had bought our
small box of assorted 40 enclosure cards
and keeps them in her bag at all times
because you never know when you might need
to write someone a note... 6. My
Nikon Coolpix digital camera was
originally given to my father, a watercolorist,
for Christmas one year by my mother.
My mother did tell me that if my father
didn't use the camera in a year that
I could take it. It took me almost 2
years before I asked for it. Every time
I use my camera and my father is around,
he always asks me how HIS camera is doing... 7.
This bag was a souvenir, from
my 36-hour layover in Paris, on my way
home from a wedding in Egypt over New Year's.
It came from a store called Upla, a handbag
shop on rue Benoit, and around the corner
from my old apt. What I love about their
bags is the number pockets they come with
and their lifetime guarantee. However this
one is a prototype and never to be manufactured
so I'm not quite sure if it fits the guarantee
category... 8. My Tintin keyring was
bought at a night market on Kowloon, Hong
Kong. I had just finished with a Cantonese
language class and was walking towards
the subway station when this stall of keyrings
caught my eye. 9. Cell phone I
use this for both personal and work. I've
been toying with the idea of upgrading
to the Blackberry Pearl but don't want
to get addicted to checking emails all
day... as I don't have access to my computer
at Cursive. 10. Hable Construction
lined notebook is
my bible for functioning at Cursive every
day. I write down notes, take down customer
questions that I need to research and
call back, SKU #s that need to be created
and printed etc... I'm sad that this
size will not be produced anymore but
I think I may have found my replacement
in the brand Moleskine...
