WHAT'S IN HER BAG
Claudia's essentials
1. Sweater This one's from J. Crew.
2.
Bag Bought at a night market in Kaoshiung,
Taiwan.
3. Muji cosmetic bag I use this
as a wallet, business card holder, coin
purse, and lip balm holder. I actually lost
this outside a restaurant in New York City
soon after I bought it in Taiwan and tried
to get people going to Asia to buy me a replacement
but no one could find the same bag. I thought
it was a lost cause, but then the United
States Postal Office sent it back to me in
the mail nine months later.

4. Lip Balm From Bath and
Body Works. It's the only SPF 45 lip balm
I've come across, so until I find something
higher SPF, I'm sticking with it. I've
even gotten used to the pineapple smell.
5. Frisk Gum Unlimited freshness! Lime
mint is my favorite flavor.
6. Muji Pen From my stockpile of pre-NYC
Muji opening colored Muji pens. It's going
to take me years to go through the ones I
already have, but I am glad they finally
opened a store in New York.
7. iPhone I only got
this because the only cell phone model
I've ever used since I got my first cell
phone twelve years ago, my beloved Motorola
Startac, got run over by a car. (Yes, I could
text message with that phone.) I'm ambivalent
about the iPhone. It's beautiful, but Apple
is turning into a tyrant that wants to rule
your life with its software. And AT&T's
Edge Network is super slow, so surfing the
web is
not great unless you're on Wi-Fi.

I didn't include my keys in the picture
because that would take up half the picture!
9.
Pepper spray (attached to the key chain) From
my brother.
10. Miu Miu sunglasses Everyone should have
a good pair of sunglasses. I come from a
family of eye doctors.
11. Food I'm always afraid of going hungry
for some reason. I'll usually have a couple
pieces of fruit, some Trader Joe almonds,
and Kombucha, a mysterious fermented health
drink that I'm completely addicted to. I
drink at least a bottle a day. If I told
you what was in it, you'd probably think
I was crazy.
